It's not just the French Toast

I generally buy my eggs at the Everett Costco store. Yesterday, for the first time ever, there were no eggs to be found at the Costco - completely cleaned out. I managed to get a couple dozen at the Market Basket on the way home.
There has been talk about the bird flu and how this will affect egg supply and prices, so I don't think it's all about the elevated French Toast Alert.
Agreed.

We know about the old "bread, milk, eggs" or whatever whenever there is a forecast. I also agree that there is some potentially serious stuff happening with poultry like culling, etc. So, with some potentially bad "bird flu" stuff along with a "storm" it is not surprising to see something like eggs being scarce.
Farms are taking precautions

I'm hearing that farms in western MA are taking precautions. Avian flu was apparently found (don't ask me how) in geese on the UMass Amherst campus. It's definitely a Massachusetts thing. Find a local supplier and hope they have good hygiene practices, I guess.

For spread to humans, anyway.
The state is testing regularly and doing a lot of outreach to workers for this.

It’s good to have a bit of food prepped all the time. I’ve started doing it the last few months. It’s not a lot but it came in handy for the post-holidays illnesses. I didn’t have much to worry about when I did my shopping on Friday. Just bought a few things. Got bread on sale, but we have powdered/evaporated milk and frozen/saran-wrapped eggs at home!
No French Toast here

I'm allergic to eggs, milk, and bread (both the flour and the yeast). I've found satisfactory substitutes for the eggs and milk, but French Toast-able yeast-free/gluten-free bread is a no-go so far.
