DA: King Arthur killer captured in Mexico City

Suffolk County DA Dan Conley announced today the arrest of the suspect in a January shooting that left one dead at the infamous King Arthur's Lounge in Chelsea.

Jesse "Fat Jesse" Camacho of East Boston was charged with the murder of Jeff Santiago following a midnight fight at the bar. Police say that Camacho, who already had a lengthy record of violence, fired at least seven shots during the altercation. Two other people - a friend of Santiago's and a club worker - were shot in the legs.

In a statement, Conley said investigators followed leads to Los Angeles, where Camacho was born and to which he allegedly fled after the fight, and then tracked him to a "rural region in southwest Mexico." He was arrested by Mexican authorities around 6 p.m. yesterday as he stepped off a city bus in Mexico City.

When returned to Massachusetts, Camacho will face trial on charges of first-degree murder, unlawful possession of a firearm, and two counts each of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and armed assault with intent to murder.
