this is getting to be nauseating! then they want to point fingers and say they are the victims and a product of their environment! BS! I live in Roxbury but that does not make me a criminal or do i even think of committing one!

Who exactly is they? I am very curious to know who you are referring to as they.

Xmas is a day that people who normally would be be laying low, might step out and get caught.

May be this will shut the people up who posted on the "Innocents stopped after a U-turn."

First of all, you can link to articles using the box at the far left.

Second, as the one who started that whole thing, if you read the comment, you would have seen that I entitled my comment "Not to defend these guys." Quite the opposite from what you are claiming. I wanted to make sure the stop was legit, so that the charge won't get tossed. I am very happy there is one more gun off the street, especially since they were stopped on my running route (technically, 6 routes, not counting essentially duplicative stroller routes.)

Third, if they one stop was such a big deal, why are people getting shot on Christmas Day? Surely that was the only gun out there.

So I'm a new driver, and my phone died in the middle of my trip to Middleboro to visit the boyfriend's family. Well, I was using my phone as my GPS, and long story short, I tried to go home to the South Shore and turned around somewhere and I wound up in Mattapan/Dorchester. Around this area, specifically. I tried to stop to ask for help but people either wanted money for my assistance or they assumed I was a scam artist (never mind that I was asking people for directions home, not asking for money) or even worse -- accused me of being a drug addict. I was treated so horribly.
I lived in Roxbury for a good 10 years of my life and never encountered what I had encountered this Christmas on Blue Hill Ave -- people were just evil to you. I tried to keep calm and talk to a gas station clerk and ask for directions and then I heard gunshots and panicked like crazy. I thought it was my imagination but a couple of locals laughed at me. I would have too -- but all I wanted to do was get the hell out of there. I managed to meet a T driver in the midst of all this insanity who led me back to Braintree. Honestly, I never even got the guy's name, but it's all too convenient this man showed up. I'm convinced he saved my life.

People had ways of navigating before phone-based gps - which doesn't work everywhere anyway.

Around here, people knew the main routes and state routes.

In other places, or when travelling far away, people use these paper sheets with roads drawn on them to figure out where to go or to find their way out of a mess.

You have hopefully learned a very strong lesson in how not to be dumb, and will learn about these things soon, I hope.

Maps are available in bookstores and on line.

Also, most state routes say WEST EAST SOUTH or NORTH. Headed to braintree? Head SOUTH and you cannot miss where it crosses 128/93/95.

Smahten up!

So, you were in Middleboro, which is south of Boston, and you were heading to Braintree, also south of Boston. Basically this is 495 to 24 to 128, which ends in Braintree. Option 1- you missed the sign at the end of 24 that directs you to Braintree and you got off on 138. In order to get to Dorchester, you would have passed the B12 police station on Blue Hill Ave, where you could have been directed to Morton Street, which would have gotten you to the Expressway. Option 2- you got on 128, but got off for some reason on 28, drove through Milton and either ended up at Mattapan Square (see option 1) or Lower Mills. In order to end up at Four Corners, you would have had to decided not to stick on Dot Ave, but for some reason randomly take a left. Option 3- you drive by the South Shore Plaza (whose exit says "Braintree") by Route 3 (whose exit sign says Braintree) and somehow headed towards Boston, seeing the skyline and everything. Somehow, you drive, yet you are unfamiliar with the main route between where you live and Boston. And somehow you end up in the middle of a shooting.

In short, I don't think this happened. But let's say it did. So here you are, white, driving around Four Corners on Christmas night, randomly stopping people and saying "can you help me." Yup, I'd think you were up to no good.

I run in Mattapan (Cummins Highway, with the occasional trip up River Street.) I love to run Franklin Park. The people who I encounter are either as indifferent as the people in Roslindale or friendly. So, if this even happened, it was you, not them.
