Undercover Police

Would be nice if police had occasional sting operations. ie: undercover police ride public transportation, especially at night. After a few dozen of the perps who prey on apparently weaker victims get arrested they might give it a 2nd thought and reduce assaults.
It's Safer To Ride The Ⓣ Than Walk The Streets

There are undercover Transit Police who regularly ride public transportation. Note that this attack didn't happen on the Ⓣ; it happened after the passenger got off her bus.
In the other story Adam reported about today, the assault did not occur inside the station, yet somehow the Transit Police we able were able to identify and arrest the assailants in short order.
Furthermore, although the Ⓣ police can't be everywhere at all times, their sophisticated network of surveillance cameras is. There are countless examples on Universal Hub of incidents caught on camera which quickly led to the identification and arrest of criminals by the Ⓣ police. You'd be hard pressed to find an example of an assault on Ⓣ property that did not lead to an arrest.
Though you don't always see them, the Transit Police do a heroic job of keeping the system safe. Now, if you're suggesting more undercover city police in high crime areas outside the Ⓣ, then I'm with you 100%.

I've updated that post; it was BPD tracking one of the victim's phones that did the muggers in.

If you want to maximize your take, do you rob someone getting out of a Lexus or a transit bus?

There's a reason why they are doing the crime.. and sometimes it has to do with brains or lack there of.
Many years ago when I lived in Atlanta, someone shoplifted large stereo speakers from a BestBuy store. Yeah stupid criminal didn't have a get away car, so he hopped on MARTA. They caught in a few stations away.. he was not hard to miss.
