Boston Police report a 17-year-old is dead from a barrage around 1:15 p.m. outside Burke High School this afternoon that also injured two other teens and a woman in her 60s.
City Council President Michelle Wu ended today's council meeting by announcing the shootings.
Photos from the scene.
The Dorchester Reporter reports the murder victim was a student at the Burke. The Reporter adds workers at the nearby Sun Pizza heard six or seven shots.
The Suffolk County District Attorney's office says:
Anyone with information on the incident can feel safe coming forward: Massachusetts’ Witness Protection Fund exists to protect witnesses from retaliation. Suffolk County leads the Commonwealth in its use, and the historic low number of homicides in Boston last year contributed to fewer petitions being filed and more funds remaining than in prior years. Anyone with information on today’s homicide and non-fatal shootings is urged to share it with BPD Homicide at 617-343-4470.
