State Police report troopers who stopped a driver in Kosciuszko Circle for doing 60 m.p.h. on Morrissey Boulevard on Saturday afternoon wound up arresting both the driver and his passenger after finding a loaded gun in the car.
State Police say driver Antonio Saez, 34, of Chicopee, and Anthony Candelario, 33, of Roxbury, were charged with illegal possession of a firearm, improper storage of a firearm and failure to wear a seatbelt. Saez's gun charges were his second or subsequent offense, which could mean a higher penalty if hes convicted. Saez was also charged with speeding.
According to State Police, Saez was initially stopped for doing 60 m.p.h. in a 30 m.p.h. zone in his Pontiac Grand Am around 5:30 p.m. After they learned that Candelario already had an outstanding warrant, they ordered the two out of the car:
Troopers Murphy and Taylor removed both occupants from the vehicle and located a black bag under the seat where CANDELARIO was seated. This bag, which was partially open, contained a silver Smith & Wesson 1911 pistol loaded with six rounds of .45 caliber ammunition. Neither Saez nor Candelario possess a license to carry firearms.
Innocent, etc.

Good crime-fighting story in the midst of a lot of bad ones on the admin side.
I'm honestly impressed

That somebody was able to go 60 MPH on a Boston street at 5:30 in the afternoon.
Morrissey is hardly your average "street"

It's not that hard to go that fast on Morrissey, especially between Freeport and BC High/UMass. Just ask the hundreds of people who have whizzed past me going at least that fast over the years!
Hmmm...

I did comment early in the morning. I might have mentally conflated Morrissey with Columbia.
