Man opens fire on seven people in Chinatown, but fortunately for them, they had a car to duck behind, police say

Boston Police report arresting a Quincy man on charges he tried shooting a group of seven people on Edinboro Street in Chinatown around 3:30 a.m. on Sunday but that a parked car provided enough cover for all of them to shelter behind until officers arrived to investigate the repeated gunshots they were hearing.

McGee decided fleeing made more sense than continuing to shoot, police say, adding, however, that officers caught up with him around 9:30 last night on Centre Street in Dorchester. Police said the gunfire happened in front of the New Moon Villa restaurant, which is open until 4 a.m.

John McGee, 37, was charged with seven counts of assault by means of a dangerous weapon, unlawful possession of a firearm, second offense, unlawful possession of ammunition, second offense and discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building.

Innocent, etc.

Why no attempted murder charges?

...were all from China's capital city, where the maneuver of crouching behind parked cars while someone's shooting at you is known, of course, as the Peking Duck.

I saw that it was reported on here early Sunday morning, but then later during the day the article appears to have been taken down. But more shockingly no other area news outlets reported on it either

This was the first I'd heard of it; I didn't write and then delete something Sunday morning.
