Update: Arrest made.
Transit Police report gunfire at the Ruggles T stop around 3 p.m.
But despite a report from Northeastern Police that sounded like somebody was shot, Transit Police say that, in fact, nobody was hit.
The Globe reports a shot was fired by one of two men in an argument.

That no one was shot. Something else must have happened instead...
Why the odd phrasing?

This reads as a weirdly passive aggressive tweet to me. It feels like they are mad at the media and want to lash out a little, but don't really have an excuse, so they send out awkward tweets like this, instead of a straightforward "We have heard that Northeastern PD is reporting a shooting, but we would like to correct our colleagues and say that no shooting occurred."
hmm.....

You do have a point. Maybe they have something to hide?

Transit Police are now confirming that, yes, somebody shot a gun while at Ruggles, but say nobody was hit.
The confusion stems from Northeastern PD's initial tweet and e-mail to Northeastern students and staff made it sound like somebody was shot; TPD's initial response was to say that didn't happen, making it sound like nothing happened.

There is no crime in T stations according to the Transit Police but there is a boatload of crime near the stations. Just a few weeks ago a disabled man was beaten at Ashmont station and the Transit Police reported the incident as near the station. Release the video and the riding public can decide whether there was a shooting or not.
