Police nab guys for speeding around town with loaded guns

Boston Police report arresting two men on gun charges early this morning in separate incident in which both were initially stopped for speeding - one for allegedly roaring down Blue Hill Avenue at 60 m.p.h.

Police say that around 1:35 a.m., officers on patrol in the area of Columbia Road and Seaver Street spotted "a motor vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed" that then blasted right past a stop sign.

Officers stopped the car, driven by Darius Perryman, 20, about a half mile away on Washington Street, police say. They seized a loaded Glock 17 9x19 firearm with one round in the chamber and nine rounds in the magazine from the vehicle, police say, adding Perryman was then arrested on charges of unlawful possession of a firearm and unlawful possession of ammunition.

Around 2:15 a.m., police say, officers on patrol at Blue Hill Avenue and Warren Street spotted a car doing 60 m.p.h. and making "several unsafe lane changes while passing vehicles on the right-hand side." Police note the citywide speed limit is 25 m.p.h., except where otherwise posted.

The officers stopped the car, driven by Rhoshawn Rogers, 45, of Amesbury, at Warren and Holburn streets, police say.

As officers approached the vehicle, the driver, later identified as Rhoshawn Rogers, opened the driver’s side door, reached into the center console and attempted to exit the vehicle. After further investigation officers recovered a loaded Glock 36 firearm with six rounds in the magazine from the center console.

Rogers - who used to live in the South End, but who didn't hold it against Amesbury Police for arresting him in 2018, was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition and driving to endanger, police say.

Innocent, etc.

I wonder how the cops got them to stop without causing a crash. Got to give them props for that.
