The MBTA reports all service to Foxborough canceled under further notice because the driver of a truck hauling a trash compactor managed to slam his rig into a bridge in Dedham, hard enough to require track repairs. Here's hoping they get it fixed before Friday's Taylor Swift show at Gillette, because you don't want to get Swifties mad.

The Supreme Judicial Court today upheld a Dedham police officers conviction for being an accessory before the fact to a kidnapping, saying it didn't buy his argument he thought his drug dealer was just going to use his badge, handcuffs and gun holster as part of a joke or some mild bondage with his girlfriend any more than the jury that convicted him did. Man and dog in canoe pass goose in the Charles River in Dedham

Mary Ellen spent some golden-hour time this morning along the Charles in Dedham, where she spotted a man paddling in a canoe with his dog while passing a goose.

Dragonfly at Witness Post in Dedham

The Army Corps of Engineers maintains a "witness post" at the dam that diverts some of the Charles River into the Mother Brook in Dedham. It's probably related to the little metal tube next to the post, from which the corps probably can easily draw out some water for tests, but we'd prefer to think it's a place to see things we don't usually see.

The level of the Charles River where Millennium Park in West Roxbury meets Cutler Park in Dedham and Needham is now so low that somebody who doesn't mind getting their calves wet - and maybe sinking into some mud - could easily wade across at its narrowest points. Read more.

Lots of buses

Brendan reports the Dedham Mall has finally found a use for its usually half-empty parking lot off Incinerator Road: Fill them with the buses and shuttle vans that will carry the Lacoste set to and from the US Open at, not just any country club, but THE Country Club.

Ed. note: On a food run to the Stop & Shop there just now, I noticed a bunch of the vans were from Morgan State, which is in Maryland.

WBZ reports, doesn't say if the attack was near the line with Hyde Park, where residents have learned to deal with bloodthirsty terror turkeys, one of which went after a WBZ reporter.

Boston Restaurant Talk reports that Small Batch Cafe, which made its own bacon, on Washington Street southbound just before the Dedham Mall, has closed for good. It opened just a few months before the pandemic hit.

Reuters reports Amazon is abandoning its foray into bricks-and-mortar books and is shutting all of its physical locations where it sold books, including at Legacy Place.
