When residents said Onyx Management and Development's plans for six condos in three attached buildings at 45 Milton Ave. in Dorchester would lead to parking woes on the street, the company responded with a proposal for nine parking spaces in a backyard that would be taken up almost entirely by a driveway and the spaces, with room for just three or four potted shrubs. The owner of numerous industrial facilities and warehouses in South Boston and a Toronto developer have filed plans for an eight-building development on parcels along Pappas Way and West 1st Street in South Boston that would include 205 residential units, life-sciences lab space, a supermarket and a rebuilt one-acre park along the Reserved Channel. Alex Matov, whose Garage nightclub on Linden Street in Allston was ordered shut last year after a series of violent incidents, is asking the Boston Licensing Board to let him sell the place's liquor license to a new nightclub operator, who would re-open the club and run it until Matov can gain the financing he needs to replace the building with a new apartment complex - one that might have room for a nightclub of its own. Brookline.News reports on a rezoning proposal approved by Town Meeting last night. The measure would, among other things, allow four-story residential buildings "as of right." The vote comes a week after voters in neighboring and even leafier Newton voted out city councilors who supported more residential development there.
