By adamg - 4/18/13 - 1:02 pm

At 12:42, State Police tweeted:

Report of explosion at Hyde Park Commuter Rail station is unfounded. Bird flew into overhead power lines. Responding units called off.

Ed. note: I was listening to Boston Fire on the scanner at the time, and they were just responding to a report of smoke underneath the River Street bridge - which was gone when they got there - not an explosion.

In his speech at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross this morning, President Obama paid tribute to the three murder victims, the scores of injured, the first responders and medical workers and volunteers who rushed to help.

"Every one of us has been touched by this attack on your beloved city, Because after all, it's our beloved city, too," he said, recalling his days as a Harvard Law student. "Boston, you're my home. For millions of us, what happened on Monday is personal. It's personal."

The Dorchester Reporter introduces us to Jeff Gonyeau, who has the only keys to the fancy clock in Peabody Square in Dorchester, the clock that Martin Richard's parents helped restore, in the square they helped rebuild. When Gonyeau heard the news, he walked to the clock, set it to the time the explosions went off and then stopped the clock.

Our world has stopped. For some of us it will stay that way forever. But Jeff Gonyeau will be back one day to wind it up and set the hands in motion again. It won't be this week and probably not this month.
