Police initially called to House of Blues on report of sexual attack

Boston Police report that what began as an investigation into a reported sexual attack at the House of Blues on Lansdowne Street last night turned into a large-scale crowd control effort involving some 1,000 fans of the rapper Kodak Black, upset because he'd failed to show up for his performance - since he was in federal custody in upstate New York, although nobody knew that at the time.

Police said officers arrived at the venue around 8:20 p.m., when about 200 people were waiting outside:

Officers entered the building where they encountered approximately 800 people inside who appeared to be growing restless while awaiting the start of the scheduled performance. After an exhaustive search, officers were able to locate the victim and escorted the party outside to a waiting ambulance for treatment and evaluation. While the officers continued to attend to the victim, the crowd both outside and inside the venue grew unruly upon learning that the headline performer of the show would not be appearing. Officers called for additional responding units to assist with crowd control and dispersal.

Police report officers spotted one man pushing and punching House of Blues bouncers when they tried to keep him from getting back in through an emergency exit. Samuel Simmons, 20, of Newton was arrested on charges of assault and battery, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and trespassing, police say.

Police add that the investigation into the alleged sexual attack continues.
