The public went in 25 years from saying "Screw your $18 CD, I'll download it for free" to "Yes, I'll pay $34 for that vinyl LP."
Consumerism let corporations win again.
Really?

CDs and digital audio is great y'all
but there's nothing like the fidelity of playing an album on vinyl. Pops, scratches, and all.
The Audio CD and digital audio are great for exact copies and clarity. But they can't replicate playing it as an LP.
There are many people who think LP's are still superior quality to digital music. Some of us (like me) think the sound dynamics that come from a LP are far greater than a CD.
And yes this includes artists who were 100% digital and there was a pressed version of their album... their album would still sound better on LP. A much warm and fuller sound. IMHO
Yeah it may be a niche market but unlike other formats.. LPs will always be there for their unique sound experience.
Oh, sure

I didn't endeavor to win an argument on the technical merits of audio media, I'm just pointing out how consumer tastes changed in a quarter-century.
