Forum for District 5 council candidates set for next week

The Longfellow Area Neighborhood Association and other civic groups will host an online forum for the four candidates running to represent District 5 - Roslindale, Hyde Park and Mattapan - at 7 p.m. on July 18.
Incumbent Ricardo Arroyo faces challenges from Jean Claude Sanon, Enrique Pepén and Jose Ruiz.

This district needs a fresh start badly
Arroyo's continued presence is so toxic, but I worry that he will coast on name recognition and the other candidates will split the change vote. Pepen to my mind has already disqualified himself by displaying ignorance or contempt for the most basic ethics rules governing public employees. All I know of the others is that Ruiz is well liked and respected.
