Man who was scheduled for arraignment next week on drug and gun charges is arrested on new drug and gun charges in Roxbury

A man arrested last year as an armed Mass and Cass drug dealer was arrested yesterday on Homestead Street in Roxbury on new drug trafficking and gun charges as part of an investigation by the BPD human-trafficking unit and drug units from the South End and West Roxbury.

Boston Police report arresting Keon Leary, 44, and Christopher Brown, 56, at 111 Homestead St. in Roxbury shortly after noon.

Armed with a search warrant, officers found "approximately 95 grams of Fentanyl, 237 grams of Crack Cocaine, 67 various pills, 6 plastic bags of marijuana, and $4,033 in U.S. currency," police say.

Both men were charged with with trafficking of Class A and B drugs, possession of Class B, C and D drugs with intent to distribute, police say. Leary, who has a criminal record dating to 1998, was also charged with illegal possession of a firearm, illegal possession of ammunition and illegal possession of a large-capacity feeding device for the Sig Sauer P365 with 11 rounds in the magazine police say officers found.

Leary already had a Nov. 14 arraignment scheduled for Suffolk Superior Court for his September indictment stemming from his arrest at Mass and Cass on Aug. 12, 2022, on charges that included trafficking 200 or more grams of cocaine, illegal possession of a firearm, third offense, illegal possession of a loaded firearm and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

He was arrested after he sold drugs out of his backpack to an undercover cop, prosecutors said. At his initial arraignment in Roxbury Municipal Court a judge initially ordered him held without bail for four months, followed by bail of $25,000..

His arraignment in Suffolk Superior Court, following his indictment in September, was originally scheduled for Nov. 6, but both prosecutors and Leary's attorney agreed to postpone it until next week, according to court records.
