Man points loaded gun at people next to Dorchester court but is nabbed by gang-unit officers standing outside while waiting to testify in a case, police say
Boston Police report arresting a man they allege thought there was enough distance between him and all the cops inside Dorchester Municipal Court that he could threaten some people with a gun, only there wasn't.
Police say some gang-unit officers who decided to wait their turn to testify outside the Codman Square courthouse around 10:40 a.m. on Friday spotted Roberto Valladares, 23, of Dorchester, at Dorchester Avenue and Tremlett Street - right next to the courthouse - "holding a firearm in his hand towards other people located in-front of him. holding a firearm in his hand towards other people located in-front of him."
The officers radioed in a report, then "watched Valladares turn around and begin to walk down Tremlett St. while securing the firearm in his waistband." And then, police say, the chase was on:
Valladares started running across Washington St. towards West Tremlett St. and eventually turned into a private driveway located on W. Tremlett Street. Officers were directly behind Valladares as he ran into a private yard of a residence that was fenced in. Valladares, realizing he had no escape, now ran towards the back of the yard, and with a throwing motion, launched the handgun over a chain link fence and immediately faced Officers in a fighting posture disobeying all commands.
After a brief struggle, Valladares was placed in custody and a firearm was recovered. The firearm was determined to be a Glock 19 loaded with one 9mm round in the chamber and eleven rounds loaded into the magazine.
Valladares was arraigned later in the day at Dorchester court on charges of assault with a dangerous weapon, illegal possession of a loaded firearm, possession of a large-capacity firearm, possession of a firearm with two prior convictions for violent or drug crimes and illegal possession of ammunition, court records show.
Judge Lisa Ann Grant ordered him held without bail at least pending a dangerousness hearing on Thursday.
Innocent, etc.

I think you mean
Washington & Tremlett Streets, since the courthouse (and Codman Sq) are both on Washington, not Dot Ave.
