Dorchester market wins approval to add Polish beer and wine to its offerings

Alina Morris

The Boston Licensing Board today approved a license that will let DJ's Market, 120 Boston St. in Dorchester's Polish Triangle, add beer and wine to its offerings.

DJ's owner Alina Morris, who has run her store for 18 years, said she would concentrate on Polish beer and wine, with some local offerings as well.

Morris said she would not take away any of the shelf space now used for non-alcoholic items - and would not sell single bottles of beer.

At a hearing yesterday, nobody spoke against the request. One resident, Ladd Thorne, Jr., praised Morris and her family as "truly important members of this community."

The Polish deli at DJ's is awesome! Get me a Moscow Morski and some Bigos Stew!

It's great to see this. DJ's is a long time neighborhood, family-owned business. I can't wait to wash down a couple of paczki with some Polish beer!
