An auto-repair garage and an old apartment building at 1181 Bennington St. would be torn down and replaced by 44 two-bedroom residential units under a proposal now before the BRA.
In his filing with the BRA, Brian Hosker says seven of the units would be marketed as affordable. The building, between the Suffolk Downs and Orient Heights T stops, would have 44 parking spaces and 30 spaces for bicycles.
In addition to the BRA, the project also needs the approval of the Zoning Board of Appeals.

This is a horrible design. Looks like a hodge podge of triple deckers all meshed into one.
I think I designed a house like this in The Sims at some point. At least mine had more character.

This is at the corner if I'm not mistaken next door from OH Mbta station, does Eastie actually need more of these large scale apartment buildings, in the next 5 to 10 years predictability rental vacancies in Eastie will reach an all time high, saturation of new apartment buildings.

Developers won't pay for good

Developers won't pay for good design. Every project is value engineered into the cheapest possible garbage that still meets code. Granite counter tops from China are imported and a luxury label gets slapped on a project barely above the quality of construction of most trailer parks.
Why?

Because the BRA allows developers to build crappy looking buildings.
Apartments Need Ammenities

Some ammenities are in order. Start with balconies. Somewhere where people meet, accidentally and otherwise, would help. Without life, these apartments would be somewhere people have to live, not want to live.

Too bad the blue line is right behind this development, loud trains rolling down the track every 5 minutes.

Jefferies point and Bremen Street is exploding with new developments, two of the hottest area's of East Boston right now !
It's where you can hop on a train Airport & Maverick stations and be in Boston in a jiffy.
Noticeable Cement trucks and a wide variety of heavy construction equipment roaming the streets of Eastie in the last several months, development going on in just about every nook and cranny all at once in Eastie.
Don't forget what will be going on with the land at Suffolk downs, mixed use development hopefully.
huge missed opportunity for this neighborhood...
