Kudos to all the doctors, nurses, paramedics and EMT;s who worked to save injured/sick people.

This was a horrible and freaky day, with rather freaky events. I admittedly thought that the collapsing of the WTC Towers in NYC was a hoax when I first heard it on the radio, but when I saw the grisly scenes of the WTC Towers collapsing in a veil of smoke, I knew otherwise.

An old friend of mine, her oldest daughter, and I all went and spent a glorious Saturday afternoon in Downtown Boston and had lunch in the North End following 9/11, and had a great time.

I still remember driving down from Somerville to the Big Apple less than a month, on a Saturday in early October, after 9/11, to not only see a special 40th-year Anniversary screening of the film West Side Story at NYC's renowned Radio City Music Hall, but to see old friends and relatives, as well. My cousin and her husband, who then lived way up on Manhattan's Upper West Side, graciously let me stay in their condominium for the night, and, after afew hours of hanging out together, they left for Upstate New York. Along with the 5 or 6 thousand other people at RMCH that Saturday night, my friends and I had a fantastic time seeing a beautifully reprinted, re-mastered and restored print of the film West Side Story. What a Saturday night out that was! Radio City Music Hall was packed with an exuberant, friendly crowd, and there was much finger-snapping and applause from the audience after each song from WSS. . This was proof that several thousand people could get together for a spectacularly fun evening, despite the freaky, horrific events of 9/11, less than a month before.
