JP man faces third OUI charge after trooper spots him driving down Soldiers Field Road with just two tires

State Police report arresting a Jamaica Plain man on drunk-driving charges early today after a trooper supervising a storrowed tractor-trailer inbound at the BU Bridge spotted him driving a van outbound despite the lack of two tires.

The trooper radioed in his observation and three other troopers responded - two after first stopping to pick up the two tires that had somehow detached from the van - and arrested Paul DeRosa, 44, on charges of OUI, third offense, negligent operation and operating a motor-vehicle without an ignition lock that might have stopped him from driving under the influence.

Innocent, etc.

He wasn't drunk - he was just too tired!

For my next joke, let's talk about how MA courts handle OUI!

Seems to think the problem of chronic, repeat offender drunk drivers like this would be solved if only we were to lower the limit from .08 to .04

Given the stats on who drives drunk, we should lower the drinking age to 18 and prohibit sale and serving to those over 60.

We do it backwards here. The drinking age should be a few years younger than the driving age.

The state could issue kids ‘drinkers permits’ at 16 that only let them drink in the company of a responsible adult.

Driving should be treated more seriously, as a privilege rather than a right.

The science surrounding impairment in driving skills supports that, and it is a reliably testable level.

That's two drinks in an hour - a generous amount if you plan to drive.

I had thought .08 was 2 drinks in a hour, but I looked at a BAC calculator and at my size it is more like .04. I would not drive after 2 drinks in an hour.

He was so drunk, his tires fell off. That's really drunk!

Or does "3rd" include prior charges that have not yet been resolved, one way or the other?

I think that means he has two convictions. The fact that he was cited for not having one of those breath-testing ignition locks supports that as well.

What do you think this is, Florida?

but "Florida Man Drives to Boston Missing Two Tires and His Pants" would make a good headline.

I challenge Adam to come up with a rhyme for THAT headline!

Drunk drivers are just a fact of life, like natural disasters. Can you arrest an earthquake? Punish a thunderstorm? Jail a person who has consistently shown disregard for human life? Might as well yell at the tides

I hope this is snark

He was arrested by troopers handling the Storrowing accident yesterday morning.

This is pure UHub gold.

*which* two tires? Both front? Both passenger side? One front passenger and one back drivers side?!
