State and Revere Police braced for trouble today on receiving intelligence that hordes of Boston high-school students were going to skip class and descend on the little seaside town and do what hordes of Boston high-school students are supposedly wont to do.

Flocks of state troopers walked up and down the sidewalk in the hot sun in their warm uniforms. State troopers on motorcycles drove up and down the sidewalk, looking state-trooper tough. Motorcycle cops patrolled the road. A K9 unit was on hand for extra snarly attitude; at the State Police station, a mobile command center had its satellite dish in the upright position.

Eventually, small groups of high-school students showed up to join the locals and college kids already on hand. They proceeded to do what everybody else was doing: Hang out, toss balls around, flirt and just enjoy the day. Shocking, indeed.

Kelly's lineThe closest Revere Beach got to a commotion was when people lined up at Kelly's.

That darned bacteria showed up at three times the safe limit at Revere Beach, King's Beach and Nahant Beach north of Ward Bathhouse, the state says.

Herald photog Mark Garfinkel chronicles his day yesterday: High-school kids at Revere Beach, lightning (specifically, high-school kids at Revere Beach watching lightning), the search for a missing jet skier off Lynn and a shootout between police and a barricaded suspect.

Local and State Police are on high alert: They've gotten word that many Boston high-school students brought bathing suits with them to school and are planning to head for the beach. Revere hates Boston kids with the blinding passion of 10,000 suns, so of course they're already closing roads and bringing in extra officers and prisoner transport vans.

The Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports the body of an Asian male believed to be in his early 20s was found around 8:30 a.m. today, "partially buried in the snow," by the South Bath House. "There were no signs of blood or obvious foul play at the scene," the DA's office says, adding an autopsy will be performed tomorrow after the body has sufficiently warmed up.

Investigators have tentatively identified the man but are withholding his name until after notifying next of kin, the DA's office says.

Look how the people in this photo are lined up. No word if an AT&T photographer was lurking nearby.

Revere Beach was inundated with class-skipping Boston teens on that wicked-hot day last week. One terrified Revere city councilor wants metal detectors at Revere Beach station because "every other teenager who got off the train had a knife or a weapon." How does he know?

A Revere woman was arrested for skinny dipping at Revere Beach yesterday, the Lynn Daily Item reports. The formal charge? Disorderly conduct.

Remember, people, if you want to gallivant in the buff, you have to give the public advance warning. The Supreme Judicial Court said so earlier this year.
