Brown booby in South Boston

Mary Ellen was among the bird enthusiasts who gathered on the beach between the Curley Community Center and Carson Beach today for a chance to photograph the brown booby that decided to head north for some time in the Hub.

MBTA track workers at Park Street try to fix rail problems

Update, 10:16 a.m.: The MBTA reports normal Red Line service has resumed.

A maintenance vehicle being used for some overnight work at Park Street derailed this morning, knocking out the third rail and completely disrupting the morning commute. Read more.

Upside down Tucson on A Street

On the Channel captured the scene on A Street at Melcher Street in Fort Point, where the driver of a Hyundai Tucson somehow flipped the vehicle shortly before 8 a.m. He was able to get out of the SUV himself before first responders arrived.

A cab driver apparently exiting onto Preble Street from the rotary that joins Columbia Road, Old Colony Avenue and Preble Street hit a bicyclist crossing Preble around 6:20 p.m., Paul Nutting Jr. reports.

AJ Stuyvenberg reports there was a T-bone crash at the same exact spot the day before.

A Connecticut man who is serving 18 months on a federal conviction in Maine for threatening death against a the judge and prosecutor and an investigator in the sexual-abuse case that got him an addition 11 1/4 years in prison was indicted today for sending more threatening letters, this time in federal court in Boston - where an appeals court is currently considering his bids to reduce both those sentences. Two South Boston men were arraigned today on charges they sent three men to the hospital by stomping on them on Tudor Street after the St. Patrick's Day parade on March 17. A third man, brother of one of the other two, will also face charges for the attack once police catch up with him. Read more.
