A Suffolk County grand jury - meeting only with strict adherence to social distancing - this week indicted a Transit Police officer for sexually attacking two women, allegedly as "payment" for giving them a ride around downtown in his cruiser in July, 2012, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports. Michael Rae, a former Transit Police lieutenant, has sued the MBTA, Transit Police Chief Kenneth Green and Transit Police Superintendent Richard Sullivan over the way he was fired in 2017, charging he was fired not for sleeping on the job but because Green, who is black, is biased against whites and veterans like him and that Sullivan, who is white, is biased against union officials who complain about working conditions. A Suffolk County grand jury today indicted a Transit Police officer on assault and battery and civil-rights charges for allegedly using his baton to repeatedly beating a homeless man at the Ashmont T stop - and charged two Transit Police sergeants for conspiring with the cop to try to cover up the attack, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office and Transit Police announced. New Transit Police cruiser

Transit Police posted a couple photos today of what its new cruisers will look like - it's a move away from the mostly white Boston look and towards the black and white preferred by many suburban police departments.
