A man already awaiting trial on drug charges in Woburn was arrested at the Andrew Square Red Line stop after he allegedly punched another man in the face and then used a knife to slash his face and arm Friday evening, Transit Police report. Read more.

Transit Police have released photos of a guy with a big dog - and his own glasses - they say attacked a person over 60 on an Orange Line platform at North Station and then stole his victim's eyeglasses, around 5:15 p.m. on Oct. 18.

Wanted for attacking MBTA worker at JFK/UMass

Transit Police have released photos of a man they say grew angry that Braintree train wasn't leaving JFK/UMass when he wanted it to, so he punched an MBTA worker in the face, around 1:10 a.m. on Oct. 17.

Green Line derailed near Heath

An E Line trolley leaving Heath didn't get far tonight after some of the wheels on a Type 8 car jumped the tracks, Ari Ofsevit reports.

The line is now starting and ending at Brigham Circle.

The MBTA will be giving away $5 Dunk's gift cards at South Station at the convenient time of 1 p.m. on Monday. Bonus: Get a free face mask with every gift card. Workers will also be handing out the gift cards and masks at various subway stops at random times: Maverick, Orient Heights, Wonderland, North Station, Haymarket, South Station, JFK/UMass, Ashmont, Braintree, Harvard, Park Street, Copley, Kenmore, Back Bay and Forest Hills.

Crashed piece of metal at Savin Hill

Tim Shannon says he'd just gotten off the Red Line at Savin Hill last night when he heard a cracking sound. And then, a 2 to 2 1/2-foot long metal slab, the bottom of one of the staircases leading up to the exit crashed at his feet. Read more.

The MBTA reports delays of up to 15 minutes on the Blue Line - which could include trains just sitting in stations, their doors open, as an inspection train traverses the above-ground part of the line taking a close look at those overhead wires that make the trains go.

Popcorn the hedgehog

Just when you think you've seen it all on the Orange Line. Roving UHub photographer Dan Peters spotted this hedgehog, named Popcorn, just chillin' near Mass. Ave. this evening, while his owner sat across from him, just watching people's reactions and laughing.

A Louisiana family who lost almost everything in Hurricane Ida who came up here to watch the Saints play the Patriots on Sunday got off a train after the game at Back Bay were on that escalator that suddenly went into reverse, throwing them down and mangling them - they claim in a suit against the MBTA and the company contracted with maintaining the device.
