Colin B was on the 593 train to Framingham this afternoon when the PA blared: "Does anyone have any dry cleaning? We need a coat hanger up at the head car."

Update: 8:50 p.m. After all first responders left the tracks, Red Line operators were given the OK to power the line back up.

Red Line service is at a halt, with shuttle buses trying to keep up with all the returning students, after somebody got on the tracks and then got a fatal jolt of electricity from the third rail around 7 p.m.

The Brockton Enterprise reports that an as-yet-unnamed man was killed on Sunday as a result of being struck by an inbound MBTA commuter rail train. Read the Transit Police report here.

Around 11:10 a.m. by an inbound train, Transit Police reports. Mark Allen is on the train and reports:

Very somber feeling in the coach. A prayer for the victim and his family, and additionally, prayers for the crew of the train who are the first responders to these types of incidents.

The MBTA has to reset its "It's been __ days since last T disaster" signs now that a track fire erupted under a train in Malden shortly after 3 p.m., forcing its passengers to evacuate on the tracks and shutting down the entire line from Community College to Oak Grove just as rush hour was about to start.

Transit Police report a man on the Rockport Line tracks in Gloucester was hit and killed by a train around 6:20 a.m. Foul play is not suspected, police say.

On Monday, another man was hit and killed by a Fitchburg Line train.
