Washington Street in Roslindale Square becomes the Adele of Boston roads

UPDATE: BWSC found the shut-off valve around 2:25 p.m. and police began letting traffic down Washington again. But traffic might be slow for awhile due to the ever popular residual backups - and DPW's need to clean up debris from the flood and put down sand for when all the water freezes.

The neighborhood's main road is now rolling in the deep thanks to a water main that turned into Swiss cheese hydrant that went berserk around 2 p.m. somewhere between Basile Street and Bexley Road, just north of Adams Park.

BWSC is trying to wrassle the watery monster while BPD sets up a detour to send outbound traffic down Archdale to South to Bussey in the Arboretum. No word yet on whether MBTA buses can navigate that.
