Not the sort of thing you expect to see in a Boston alley

Swastika in the Back Bay

A roving UHub correspondent alerted us yesterday to this swastika on the rear wall of 66 Hereford St. in the Back Bay. It was still there this afternoon, granted, in an alley behind a parked car.

'Area residents' suspected?

Coming into Boston on the pike I was shocked that vandals had spray painted gang slogans all the way from Yawkey station to Back Bay station. Is Keolis or the MBTA responsible for cleaning up the mess?

No.

Seriously. There seems to have been an uptick in tagging over the past year or two in lots of areas of the city, or at least a downtick in cleanup.

Puhleeze, this isn't The Warriors.

Sure, it's vandalism but it's just kids from allston, brighton, newton, watertown, etc.

Can you dig it?

I think all those crappy little "MS" tags stand for Mozart Street, which is indeed a gang.

Agreed, most are just tagging names. Although "Wolftits" would be a pretty awesome name for a gang.

There's a huge MS-13 tag as you're heading out to Medford on the Lowell commuter rail line.

The City of Boston's Graffiti Busters crew, power washed the offensive tag away this afternoon and as usual did a great job.

was the graffito visible to the runners on Monday?

(I didn't see it when I biked through there Monday morning ... but it was 2:45 am then)
