Isabel Ravenna posts some video of people protesting the acting president's Tesla car and truck lines outside his showroom in the Prudential Center on Boylston Street today. Small group, but next time they should try more publicity in advance.

This is pretty funny.
This is like protesting a stable of Clydesdales out in Westford because you don't like Budweiser.

The point of the protest is to tell others that if you see what's going on, you're not alone.
The Democrats and most big corporations are happy to roll over for Musk and Trump. But not everyone else is.
I tip my hat to protesters. Thank you.
Hopefully it works

Most of Elon Musk's money comes from TSLA stock, much of which is leveraged for other things. This article covers it well. TSLA shares are based on vibes, not the number of vehicles sold, and swasticar sales are plummeting in Europe and probably on the decline here. There are perfectly viable alternatives if you want an EV. But the company should not have a $1.15 billion and PE ratio of close to 200. It's all based on "full self driving" or whatever and … good luck with all that. Especially if there's no one to buy it. So informing people not to buy swasticars is a good way to punish Musk. Which is a laudable goal.

The first thing he did was fire all the inspector generals and anti corruption departments. You know, the sort of people who are supposed to call out waste, fraud, and other matters of public interest.
A week later he places an order for $400 million Tesla vehicles for the State Department.
Pretty soon it won't matter if anyone but people in red hats are buying Teslas because he can replace any lost private sales with ones for the government. And expect to see every department suddenly need Star Link phones for all employees. And all public communication will need to be via Twitter or Truth Social.
Even if you hate environmental regulations and cancer research, surely you can see the blatant corruption and outright theft of tax dollars, right?
He's looking for government waste and fraud...

It is blatant corruption, I agree with you there. However, Tesla had 2024 revenue of about $97.5 billion, of which about $77 billion was from selling vehicles. Total, they "only" had $7.1 billion dollars in profit. It won't take much of a decline in sales--even with one or more government giveaways--for Tesla to lose money in 2025, and sales aren't just declining, they're in free fall, both domestically and overseas.

Volkswagens are not produced by Nazis. Tesla is a company largely controlled by a modern Nazi. The kind that relies upon hard drugs, tells quite imaginative lies via a propaganda vehicle (sorry for the pun) and is obsessed with fertility and producing babies.
Trappings all of which were part of the original Nazis.
So Swasticar is very appropriate.

Or Muskwagon (wagen?) are fine alternatives.
In doing our little part to help poison the brand, it's probably better to remind your Tesla owning friends and neighbors that they are simply accidental stooges bankrolling the downfall of our government vs. branding them as neo-nazis, right? (ex; "Should I drive or do you want to take your Muskwagon?")

However, the original VW Beetle was designed by Nazis. It was promoted as the "KdF Wagen" ("KdF" = "Strength Through Joy") and the "People's Car" ("Volkswagen") by the Goebbels propaganda machine. No actual Beetles were ever sold under the Nazi regime, because the war intervened and the plant was converted to produce Kubelwagens, the German equivalent to our Jeep, for the Wehrmacht.
If memory serves, the Beetle was designed by Ferdinand Porsche based on a sketch by Adolf Hitler.

Just because Elon Musk gave a Nazi salute at President $Trump's inauguration festivities doesn't make his vehicle a "swasticar". That's a step to far @Ari O.
Does anyone really believe Elon designed the Tesla Cybertruck? He has people for lowly tasks like that (Franz von Holzhausen).

Musk's status as "the world's richest man" depends on that grossly inflated stock price. Tesla's never made a profit.
The legacy car companies like Toyota, Ford and VW have caught up with EVs. And Chinese companies like BYD and Dong Feng are already outselling Tesla in some countries.
Why the board hasn't booted Musk is a mystery. He's hurting the brand. But maybe Musk got involved in politics to avoid securities fraud prosecutions.

Or at least it would be like that, if Budweiser were in the horse business, rather than the vaguely beerlike fluid business. What this is actually like is standing outside a liquor store discouraging people from buying Budweiser--and then the government deciding to buy $400 million worth of Bud with our tax money.

Seriously, though, we need to think bigger than this.
Even if you are a Trump supporter, you didn't vote for Musk. That's a starting wedge.
The guy is an alien anti-American usurper. Full. Stop. Nobody elected him to lead the country.
We need to repeat this simple message until enough people across the spectrum get mad enough that they start pressuring red state reps and senators to stop their acquiescence.
If the famously warring denominations in Norway could set aside those differences to oust Quisling and the Nazi occupiers, we may be able to find uniting issues to do the same.

Musk has been horrible for years. This isn’t a new thing. That’s like people who in 2016 suddenly were embarrassed to live in Trump buildings even though he’d been promoting racist conspiracy theories about Obama for years and had been doing other racist things for decades (and was prosecuted successfully for racist housing practices in the 70s).

Quite a few years...yea maybe 4-5 years. I think COVID is when he started getting political. People who bought Tesla's before then (and still some now) did so to support a cleaner future. Tesla was a great American company finally making electric cars viable when Ford and GM, who had massive R&D budgets, refused to make electric cars cool. So the people in the comments saying there are viable alternatives, sure go ahead and buy an electric Chevy. Point of my argument is do NOT judge or harass someone because they own a Tesla. That's disgusting. Except for Cybertrucks...they don't count here.

Buy a Honda prologue. It's basically a Chevy (blazer EV) but doesn't carry the Chevy "stigma" badge and is rapidly gaining in popularity. So you indirectly give an American company some business without making a Nazi even richer.

I've been thinking of the city of Las Vegas,, who's city council put out a bid for public transit and Elon woo-ed them into trashing that idea and building taxi tunnels. Theres already a few miles near their convention center (which is a waste already) and the city greenlighted a citywide build with Musks "Boring Co" and tesla. America's fastest growing city will not have trains, just taxi tunnels that no one can afford and if there is a fire.. oops no escape tunnels! So LV is basically the city version of a cybertruck owner. Paid for the dumbest thing ever and will have to live with its bad decision making.
