Wicked Local Brookline reports a resident called 911 to ask what to do about the crows harassing a neighbor's cockatoo - which was sitting outside, in a tree, as one does in the summertime.

What is the cockatoo's owner doing letting his pet sit in a tree

That's inane. S/he could end up losing their pet. Either it could fly away, or a hawk, a crow, or even a cat could make short work of it. As an exotic bird owner myself, I think it's more than just a little bit irresponsible to let a pet exotic bird sit in a tree, especially unharnessed, to boot.

"Catios" are becoming popular with cat keepers who don't let their cats out, but want to provide outdoor recreation space. These can be something akin to a chicken run, an extra large wire kennel attached to a window sill, or even a screened outdoor patio for both humans and pets.
Perhaps this creature would benefit from something similar. Kind of like a screened porch area, with some amenities for the creatures who use it.

If a crow wants to go after a cockatoo, that's his business. Stop being so homophobic.G
