Developer who won approval for South Boston apartment building now proposes hotel instead

A developer who won city approval for a six-story, glass-sheathed apartment building on Dorchester Avenue between A and B streets is now asking city permission to put up an eight-story hotel with 159 rooms instead.

In a filing with the BPDA, a lawyer for Jason Cincotta's Evergreen Property Group says a non-chain boutique hotel will "provide a distinct hospitality use at a design-forward development that better activates the street frontage along Dorchester Avenue," and would comply with the BPDA's new design and zoning guidelines for Dot Ave.

The hotel would have room for valets to park up to 64 cars, as well as outdoor terraces and a pool.

The site currently is used as a rental-car parking lot.
