No, Boston won't start ignoring trans rights just because the president went back on his word

Both Mayor Walsh and School Superintendent Tommy Change reaffirmed their commitment to protecting transgender students, the day after the Trump administration told schools they no longer had to do so - and never mind he once promised to protect them.

In a statement, Mayor Walsh said:

While the federal government has rescinded its guidance protecting transgender students in our nation's schools, transgender and gender nonconforming students in the Boston Public Schools will remain protected from discrimination, bullying and harassment.

In his own statement, Chang said:

In accordance with Massachusetts law, BPS policies permit students to participate in programs and use facilities consistent with their gender identity. The Boston Public Schools will continue to maintain our practice and culture of respect for all students and employees, including those who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, or queer (LGBTQ).

That's a stretch. The "promise" in the linked article is to protect people from Islamofascism. Nothing to do with forcing bathroom regulations on schools across the country.

And you will find this:

In an interview with the “Today” show last April, Trump opined against a law in North Carolina that barred transgender people from using their preferred bathrooms. The effect of the law was dramatic: A number of businesses, including the NCAA basketball tournament, pulled out of the state in response. Trump isolated this effect in his comments, saying that “There have been very few complaints the way it is. People go, they use the bathroom that they feel is appropriate, there has been so little trouble.”

He was asked whether Caitlyn Jenner — perhaps the most famous transgender person in America — could use the bathroom she chose at Trump Tower. He said she could.

That still doesn't work. He's expressing his opinion on individual cases. That doesn't translate into being in favor of forcing regulations on schools and at this time changing his opinion.

The premise for Obama's action is that Title IX applies to trans restroom issues.

It's reasonable for a person to support letting everyone choose which restroom to use, while opposing the argument that Title IX is relevant to the topic.

In Boston, we ignore mass transit, not the transgendered.

Trump is a pathetic coward who goes out of his way to bully the people who already face the most discrimination in this country like the LGBT community, muslims, etc.

fucking retarded... Everyone has completely lost their senses and we're making "laws" for less than 1.0% of the population.

Just dress up as whoever the hell you "identify" as (a joke in itself) and go to the fucking bathroom
