Two North End restaurant owners to team up on restaurant at Everett casino

Frank DePasquale and Nick Varano will run a restaurant called Fratelli when the Encore Boston Harbor Resort opens.

The 135-seat Italian restaurant will, of course, serve Italian food, and will fill one of the 13 restaurant spaces at the facility. The only other announced restaurant is another Italian restaurant, operated by Wynn Resorts itself and called Sinatra.

The name means "Brothers" in Italian, and the press release makes it sound like they consider themselves brothers from different mothers:

“We couldn’t be more honored and excited to be part of this incredible Encore Boston Harbor project,” said DePasquale and Varano, “With over 30 years of friendship, we are looking forward to this next venture. Fratelli will embody the true essence and culinary experience that both of us have been known to bring to the Boston restaurant scene for so many years.”

It was on Cross Street. I think it lasted maybe 3 years. It was famous the day it opened. It said so right above the door. So famous its sign is probably down on the greenway with all those other famous signs.

But I digress.....

Whats not to love about this? It will be the best italian food made by Salvadoran cooks. There will be beautiful ladies sitting at the bar sipping a glass of wine for 3 hours waiting for somebody to "buy them a drink" (wink wink) and Nick will be bussing in the cast of Jersey Shore to give it some pizazz.

Sign me up for those $45 pasta entres.

Nick Varano is the tackiest person in Boston. He was born to have a restaurant in a casino.

The fact that he puts his face and name on everything is a good thing. I know which places to avoid.

Last time I went to Mohegan Sun Casino Michael Jordan’s Steak House was packed with people at 4pm on a Monday.
Fratelli resturaunt is going to make a killing.

Another place I can add to my list of places I never intend on visiting.

I went to Strega once.. just once. Italian food is cheap, no need for pasta to be 45 bucks a plate.

And I agree. Nick is very trashy and a restaurant in a casino seems to be right up his alley.

Nick Verano is the absolutely most perfect person to have a tacky tourist trap Italian place in that casino. That's the same model he's used for all his 'restaurants.' Gun to my head, he's the guy I would have picked as most likely to do exactly this. Fred Smerlas, Steve DeOssie, and every other wanna be tough guy on or formerly of WEEI will be hanging there and singing its praises. Can't wait.

Europeans have been flying over to Boston for years to shop for clothing at Wrentham Outlets they also fly to the eastern seaboard or close to the eastern seaboard of America to gamble at casinos in Connecticut or the casino at Niagara falls, so this casino will be golden for European gamblers flying into Boston , they can uber to Logan Hyatt and take a ferry right to the casino..
