Holy mackerel sky!
KMV looked up to catch the mackerel clouds over Boston this morning.
He was not alone:
I was JUST admiring them on TheBostonWebcam's live feed over the Charles River. pic.twitter.com/uAzNTO0S4Q

Altocumulus undulatus (aka wave clouds, because it resembles ripples or waves in water). They are formed by the varying winds (speed & direction) with height. When blowing at different speeds above & below the cloud layer, the wind can cause the cloud to bunch up into ridges.

Yes! Beautiful over Jamaica Pond. We used to call this a “mackerel sky”. pic.twitter.com/VqBL0t3CnD
