JP Comics & Games, 603 Centre St., announced tonight it's closing at the end of the month.
The store, which in addition to selling comics hosts a Friday-night Magic the Gathering game, said "this came up pretty quickly on us," but did not go into more details.

Talked with them a bit. They were supposed to move to a new location and new building in JP (maybe that 3 story on Bourroghs st) but they were unable to secure retail insurance for the place because of the lead levels in the soil. Lame :\

So there's gonna be a bathroom now? I'm still a bit astounded that they (and grassfed) were allowed to operate without one.

I have never gone in but I have always been glad that this store existed for those who wanted to go in. For years, I have witnessed groups of young folk sitting around a table on Friday evenings playing some kind of game.
With this storefront's closing and, of course, the loss of Doyle's, JP is losing its funkiness and character.
