Indoor First Night events either moved outside or canceled

The First Night schedule was revised this week due to Covid-19 concerns.

All performances originally planned for Copley Place or the BPL main library have been moved outdoors. One organ concert at Old South Church was made online only - like its Christmas eve services - while two others were canceled.

Still scheduled for indoors is the Handel and Haydn Society's Emancipation concert at Trinity Church on Friday (proof of vaccination required) and pianist Jacqueline Schwab at First Church, also on Friday.

Mayor Wu has scheduled a press conference for 10:30 a.m. on Thursday to discuss changes and other steps to try to keep First Night goers safe.

The Emancipation Proclamation concert will have neither a live audience nor a live stream, and will be recorded for later online broadcast. First Night has removed this event from its schedule page.

The First Church concert will be livestreamed, with no in-person audience.
