Police say they followed GPS from man's ankle bracelet to arrest him for Dorchester gunfire

Boston Police report officers arrested a suspect for gunfire following a fight at Barry and Hamilton streets in Dorchester by following GPS signals from a monitoring device he was wearing as a condition of release for an earlier charge.

Police had responded to Barry and Hamilton around 9:40 p.m. on Tuesday after an argument turned into a brawl that ended when somebody pulled out a gun and fired it at least five times. Nobody was injured, but three vehicles were hit.

Based on numerous investigatory elements, including witness statements, officers were able to identify the suspect. Investigators then determined that the suspect was currently being monitored on a court-ordered GPS device which allowed them to confirm his presence at the crime scene and led them to his current location at a residence on Stimson Street in West Roxbury where he was placed in custody without incident at about 2:02 AM on Wednesday June 1, 2022.

Kyle Lee, 28, of Mattapan, was charged with discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling, assault by means of a dangerous weapon, unlawful possession of a firearm and unlawful possession of ammunition.
