Two trolleys loved each other very much and couldn't help but 'couple' at Government Center

The MBTA reports two trolleys "unintentionally coupled" at Government Center, which sounds like what might happen in a PornHub video, but probably means one rear-ended the other at very slow speed and they got coupled together (which also sounds like a PornHub video).

Nobody injured, but some passengers had to walk through a darkened tunnel to safety and now Green Line service is halted between Park Street and Government Center, and we bet any federal investigators who thought they were finished studying safety on the T have flipped their laptops back open and are busy pounding out new notes.

Also, for fans of Blue Line shutdowns, service there took a nosedive after a train up and died at Airport.

The bus driver from last week was promoted to Green Line operator and already they've gotten the hang of the job.

It's painfully obvious that we need federal supervision at the MBTA as the outgoing governor has all but surrendered his duties in pretty much everything aside from giving token speeches and petting the occasional dog.

This would be a good time to have the Department of Transportation assume management of the MBTA, appoint a commissioner not beholden to politics or potential employment with other systems and take long-term corrective action everywhere from acquisitions, contracting, labor recruitment and training, urine mitigation and a host of other issues which fall under the umbrella of "fix the T."

This would clash with Charlie's most-popular-governor image but he should be quietly reminded of his advocacy for takeovers of things that don't work as expected and face the music of being nothing more than a token figurehead with very little to show for the credentials he burnishes.

If I were one of the federal DOT staff assigned to the MBTA, I'd just start looking for an apartment in the area at this point, since it's clear this is for the long haul.
