Boston Restaurant Talk reports the venerable Southern restaurant and live-music spot plans to close on Dec. 31, then re-open as something else, although exactly what owner Nia Grace has in mind for the Columbus Avenue spot remains under wraps.

This happened at that location about 14 years ago! Bob's closed and reopened as Circle, which was an overpriced disaster. Circle lasted a few months, then reopened as Darryl's (that's why there's a bunch of circles on the walls...they went all in). I hope live music and soul food survive the rebranding..

I miss Bob's, I could go for some of that chicken with a biscuit and gravy on a day like today, then lapse into a food coma.

It was also Stork Club for a bit, hopefully the new incarnation will last.
