The Zoning Board of Appeal today approved plans to replace a former Qdoba with a 16-seat Starbucks at 540 Commonwealth Ave., across from the former Buckminster Hotel in Kenmore Square.
The new Starbucks would be in the same block as a Dunkin' Donuts, as well as a McDonald's that also serves coffee.
Nobody spoke against the proposal, which still requires approval from the Boston Licensing Board. Through an aide, City Councilor Michael Flaherty supported the idea of bringing another Starbucks to Boston.

The Starbucks next door in Hotel Commonwealth closed at the start of the pandemic. It was still run by BU best I could tell even after they had sold everything else.
The most surprising thing is that it's a Starbucks and not a cafe Nero. Kenmore Sq is still too lowbrow for a Tatte.
