Official Boston snow emergency ends at 4 p.m.
By adamg on Tue, 02/13/2024 - 9:30am
And that means you'll have until 4 p.m. on Thursday to save your parking space, the one you've so arduously dug out (except in the South End and Bay Village, where space savers are never allowed).

Such snow
Much emergency
so much to dig out
As of 10a.. not a lick of snow here in Chelsea. I assume it's the same in most of the city.
WCVB's radar at the moment shows just a small patch of rain.. and Boston, Quincy and a part of the North Shore is rain.
4 hours later
4 hours later and its nearly over... not even enough to get the grassy surface in front of my house covered in snow.
What a useless storm...
I put the blame on
I put the blame on Punxsutawney Phil.
They are just as good at
They are just as good at other aspects of city management. Only it's less visible.
You're absolutely right
You're absolutely right. The National Weather Service is part of NOAA, which is part of the U.S. Department of Commerce, which, as you know, is the fiefdom of Michelle Wu, who is personally responsible for any errors in forecasting.
Well, they jumped the gun
By yesterday afternoon, the models had shifted considerably and were predicting little, if any snow for today. But if you're going to have a press conference in the morning, you can't wait for any updates which might come before the close of business that day.
The extra lead time for making plans to stay home with kids is a plus, but you're going to end up with days like this one which end up being a sNOw emergency.
Protect your parking spot
after shoveling out all the rain.
LOL!
.
Exceptions
They should sue the city. I hear Mayor Wu is racist against gentrifiers.
The Federal Government failed
The Federal Government failed the kids again. At least they could go to museums for free today.
You sure are something
Decisions were made locally based on dynamic information from multiple sources that was available at the time of the decision. It happens. Sometimes it goes the other way, we stick it out through a storm and it gets a little dicier than we are comfortable with.
Would you like to try your hand at forecasting the next winter storm for us?
