State officials, MBTA workers celebrate the end of T slow zones (photo by governor's office).
State officials this morning officially celebrated the removal of the last official slow zone on the MBTA, on the Green Line specifically - after more than 20 years of subway slow zones. Not all riders were able to join in the celebrations, though, because they were outside shivering in the cold waiting for a Red Line shuttle bus due to a cracked rail near Wollaston.
Also this morning: Switch problems near Haymarket on the Green Line and a dead train near Aquarium on the Blue Line.
Yesterday, there were delays on the Orange Line due to switch problems at Forest Hills.

Or Monica Tibbits-Nutt?
See the Bruce Mohl story in today's Globe. I was hopeful but things aren't really looking great for the Transportation Revenue Task Force.

I was thinking the same. You figure the Transportation Czar would be in the picture. Maybe its because the T is so bad she drives in (her own words)

Interesting story. Wow.
There’s no Wikipedia entry on the Secretary Tibbits-Nutt.
There is a Wikipedia entry on her predecessor, Secretary Fiandaca, but it doesn’t say why she left*.

Red Line signal problems for the last 4 days
By anon

The Red Line has sucked more than usual starting Friday and continuing through right now.
There were 15-45 minute delays due to signal problems every single day, some lasting 2-3 days.First there was Broadway. then JFK, then Quincy, and right now Braintree.
The cracked rail was fixed I guess. The T is no longer mentioning it on their website.
I know its very cold , but WTF?
Bad Situation, but Nothing Here to See

There's nothing wrong with feeling frustrated at the occurrence, though after "I know it's very cold", there's no "but".
Temps in the teens = potential for cracked/broken rail. Despite this not being a new concept, it's revisited yearly as if we've never seen such a thing.

No "cracked rails" on this line and we've been experiencing the same unexplained delays since Friday

Explains why I ran into Phil Eng

This morning I was headed to work on the green line and noticed Phil Eng on my train. I had to say thank you for the work. We all know the T still has lots of work but it is so much better than it was a year ago when I was averaging a 50% chance I was walking vs taking the train.
He did say they had a fair bit of signaling to work on. And me being me I had to mention things like escalators and stairs matter too. If you can't get to the platform the trains running don't do you much good.
I even took a selfie with him so I can show Dukakis next time I see him in the neighborhood. Joking not joking.
He's done a good job so far.

Fixing slow zones in a year was no small tasks. I admit, I was disheartened by the red line issues since the snow on Wednesday, but as a whole, the T has come far. Looking forward to more progress.

Is this the second or third time We've celebrated the end of slow zones on the T?
