GBH reports state regulators have given their OK to plans for a $1.7-billion, 14-story, 320-bed cancer hospital on land now occupied by the Joslin Diabetes Center.
The plan, under which the Joslin center would move to Beth Israel space on the other side of Brookline Avenue, still needs approval from the Boston Planning Department.
The state action comes as Mass General Brigham, Dana-Farber's current in-patient partner, announces plans to pour $400 million into a new cancer institute, using space at Brigham and Women's and Faulkner Hospital in Jamaica Plain.
