Don't need to be a marathon runner

I did the math one time. It takes something like 20-30 minutes for the B Line to go from Washington St to Kenmore (just under 3 miles). That's 1 mile per 10 minutes or 6 mph. That's about a 4.5 hour marathon pace. 60 year old women have to do better than that in order to qualify for the Boston Marathon...one would hope this 20-something (even in a burger suit) could do better. He should race it from BC all the way to Kenmore.

anyone who lives on the B line should know this. I've regularly outrun the B line when it left one station so I could get on at the next.
next time do it outside the bike lane, chief

Nice job running in the bike lane...there's something called a SIDEWALK.

Would you prefer the bicyclist who was forced into the street to avoid our hero ride on the sidewalk instead?

I'm a biker and yeah I hate people blocking the bike lane. That said this is all in good fun and to his credit he is running with traffic and no worse than a slow biker in the lane.
IMO, the worst bike lane offenders are:

"WRONG WAY".
See also "Side-by-Side Joggers and Cyclists in Bike Lane".
I don't mind most joggers in the lane, as long as they are going the proper direction. I have a friend who runs a 2:50 marathon and he runs as fast as a lot of people cycle!
Uh...

Technically, if they're coming towards you, then the jogger is going the CORRECT WAY.
Runners should always run in the lane in the opposite direction of traffic. They have the most ability to get out of the way if there is an errant vehicle hurtling at them and need to see what they are up against. Running WITH traffic is a great way to get yourself mowed down from behind.
Now, the problem is when they don't move the hell over (or even out of the bike lane) when they see you coming at them... THAT'S the whole point of running against traffic; so that they can pre-plan to get the hell out of the way.
As I see it, the real problem is not running the wrong way

on the street, but the fact that joggers and runners (who, being on foot, are PEDESTRIANS - just faster ones than average) are in the street to begin with. And please don't try to justify it by saying that running on the sidewalk is too inconvenient or hurts too much.
Good point

I'm forwarding your concerns on to the Boston Marathon organizers right now.
I mean, by the time they pass Heartbreak Hill, the lead guys have spread out enough that they should stay on the sidewalk down Beacon through Kenmore and into Copley!

We prolly need a giant burger lane. Too bad we didn't think of it earlier before mumbles bought all the paint.

I think the video and the publicity the student is getting is great. Relax about criticizing a jogger in a bike lane and how it's easy to out-run the T. This is a great promo video for the kid, hopefully he reaches his fund-raising goal.
