DA: Visiting New Yorker not part of 'trivial' bar argument that ended with his death

Hector Guardiola, 25, of South Boston, was ordered held in lieu of $75,000 bail at his arraignment today on a manslaughter charge in connection with the death of a visiting New Yorker at the Lansdowne Pub early Saturday, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports.

According to the DA's office, Guardiola attempted to settle an argument with somebody else over "something trivial" by throwing "a heavy beer glass." Prosecutors say the glass shattered, sending shards into the throat of Michael Dimaria, 23, slicing his jugular vein and causing him to bleed to death.

Guardiola was also arraigned on two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon - the remnants of the beer glass hit another man in the head, slicing his scalp and giving him a possible concussion, and hit a woman, who required stitches to close a gash on her face.

In addition to setting bail, a Roxbury District Court judge ordered Guardiola to surrender his passport after prosecutors said he had given police two different addresses.

Innocent, etc.

They say that that the accused does not speak English, and lives with a girlfriend "at a South Boston housing development". They do not say whether he's an illegal immigrant, nor whether that housing is subsidized, and they have disabled comments that, experience shows, would be asking those questions within moments.

"Guardiola has held a custodial job in the animal laboratory at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center for three years. He has two motor vehicle offenses on his record, for operating under the influence of a controlled substance and driving without a license."

How about we kick these worthless fucks out of subsidized housing after ONE attempt to kill someone? Instead of three?

And how can you even get involved in a trivial argument if you don't speak fucking English?

They state that "he grew up in Puerto Rico," which is not to say anything definitive about his legal status. If he was born there, he's a US citizen.

I think disabling the comments doesn't mean we're lacking incisive questions, so much as judgmental, racist anal emissions from the League of Super Turds who have made it their mission the protection of our great nation from the swarthy hordes of the south. I can't say I miss it much as the comments would be pretty predictable and uninsightful.

is in the comments above, John. I'm guessing the level of discourse only descenda after a missive that uses conjugations of the word "fuck" as both an adjective and a noun, but not as its original verb.

I understand there are some community groups and community colleges out there offering FESL classes, so that we can all get with the program, assimilate into society more quickly and get jobs as entry level investment bankers or Jiffy Lube attendants. I've signed up and am "really fucking looking forward to it."
