Person struck, killed by trolley near Longwood stop

The MBTA reports:
On October 24, 2010 at 12:19am Green Line operations notified the MBTA Transit Police of an accident between Longwood and Fenway on the D Line. A number of units were dispatched. Brookline Police and Fire Departments were notified and upon arrival with EMS determined the incident to be a fatality. Initial investigation indicated the person was struck by an eastbound trolley. He was found in the gauge of the eastbound track, west of Fenway Station. This area of the tracks is fenced on both sides.

He adds that after interviewing people who were with him before his death, investigators believe "that alcohol use may have been a factor." He said investigators have ruled out any train or signal issues on the "fence-enclosed Green Line right-of-way."
Stimson is the second BU School of Management student to die unexpectedly this fall.

and he was the second person from woodsville high school to die this weekend, my thoughts and prayers to his mother, father, and his two brothers.
Who else from WHS died?
I've spent about half of my life at my family's summer place in Haverhill, NH (of which Woodsville is a part) and have quite a few friends who graduated from there. My brother and his family live there now too. This will hit hard, it's a pretty small town.
The other person
Seth Conrad, died on the 22nd. I'm not sure why. It only says "unexpected" at the Ricker Funeral Home (Woodsville) site.

I feel for his family and friends. I know that area very well, he was probably walking towards Kenmore Sq,Park Dr,Boylston St., he should have just cut over to Longwood and Brookline Ave and caught a cab or something. You have to be really drunk and/or high to get yourself hit by a streetcar imo, even on the Riverside line. Or suicidal.

Seems like people always speculate in a situation like this.

No disrespect to anyone. Folks post opinions. That area allows ample room to jump out of the way of an oncoming train, and you would have no trouble hearing and seeing a train, especially at night with it's lights and less ambient noise. I know the area very well, grew up only a mile from it, and have taken that train, at all hours, many times. Sad, he could have easily walked up Longwood Ave in either direction, up Kent St, or down Chapel which is parallel to the tracks. Or wait for the train to arrive, rather than walk on the tracks.

or you know, he could walk on the pathway through the park that runs directly parallel to that stretch of tracks.
Theres no feasible reason for someone to be walking ON the tracks in that location.

Given the alcohol factor, he very well might have though he was stumbling along the park pathway and not the MBTA right of way.
