Jamaica Plain Patch reports on a late-night incident at Stony Brook station in which four riders teamed up to capture and detain an alleged cell-phone thief - despite some punches from the guy's accomplices.

I think that's great. But there's a poll on the Jamaica Plain Patch page and I was surprised to see a majority of people said they would react the same way. I'm pretty confident I'd jump to someone's defense in most cases in which they're being harmed. But I'm not sure a stolen cell phone is important enough to warrant risking a possible stabbing or worse.
