Leroy "Hitman" Martin, 34, of Brighton, was ordered held in lieu of $100,000 bail at his arraignment on a variety of charges related to a high-chase from Revere to Cambridge that ended with him under arrest in the Kendall Square T stop.
Martin was arraigned in Chelsea District Court on charges that include unlawful possession of a firearm, improper sale of a firearm, unlicensed sale of ammunition and being an armed career criminal - based on past convictions, including a 2008 gun and assault conviction for which he was on probation - the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports. Martin is likely to face additional charges related to yesterday's chase - in addition to the bad-driving charges the Suffolk DA's office threw at him.
Should Martin make bail, he'll have to wear a GPS monitoring device.
The DA's office says State, Revere and Lynn police had their eye on Martin for possible illegal gun sales. Yesterday, officers from those three departments, the FBI and the Essex County Sheriff's Department were watching the Target parking lot in Revere when Martin pulled in, a guy got in, then got out.
State Police attempted to pull [Martin's] Alero over in the area of Bell Circle, but Martin allegedly sped along Route 1 southbound at speeds of up to 65 miles per hour. During the course of the pursuit, investigators received word that Martin had allegedly sold the second party a loaded .357 caliber revolver for $750.
In Kendall Square, State Police say, he appeared to aim his car at a pursuing trooper, who fired three times at his car. He drove across the Longfellw, crashed in Charles Circle, then got on the Red Line outbound - from which he was removed by waiting state troopers at Kendall - State Police say.
Innocent, etc.

with a name like "hitman" - there weren't many career choices: gangster or perhaps pro-wrestler.
And how long was the Red Line

And how long was the Red Line shut down "Due to police activity" for this? Don't worry, "There's another train DIRECTLY behind this one"
for once, it's not the T's fault

As pissed as I was to be stuck on that train, it's not like it could have taken much less time to deal with what happened than it did.
Maybe they could have handled the recovery faster, but between that, a water main break on the south end and some sort of medical emergency, none of which involved broken equipment or anything else the T is responsible for, the red line didn't really stand a chance or getting the equipment to where it needed to be any faster.

You sure that's not a typo, Gaffin? Because that's an appropriate amount, and you don't often see that in Massachusetts.
Don't worry

But for what it's worth, the DA's office asked for $500,000 bail.

Him or Bob Kraft. Seriously, they're the only two in this state who aren't idiots who are qualified for the job. Write 'em in, people.

Wow, I guess that makes about 80% of the drivers on US 1 potential gun runners too, huh?
So, if he pleas out on the moving violation, will they dismiss the trafficking charge?
