David Bernstein (who broke the news that Hizzona was not running again) wonders what exhibits the curators of a Menino museum simply must have (needless to say, it would have to be located near the Menino Arts Center and the Menino Wing of the Hyde Park library):
How about an architect's model of that skyscraper he wanted to have built smack in the middle of Beacon Hill, surrounded of course by narrow one-way streets? If it were built and fully occupied, a couple of thousand workers would be entering it in the morning and leaving in the afternoon at about the same times. Kind of nightmarish, if you ask me.
As featured in the Great Mooninite Scare. But I seem to recall it was going to be on some municipal parking lot in the area of the Government Center garage, not Beacon Hill.
The tower was "One Winthrop" on Winthrop Square, city-owned parking lot very close to the Bank of Boston (sic, America) building. Not near Beacon Hill.
That having been said, yes, the mayor of the largest city in the MBTA district could certainly have done far more than he did to fight for public transit.

Of his greatest mumbles and malapropisms, including Varitek splitting the uprights.
It would be like the anti- FDR fireside chats.

I'd love to know what his ego is going to end up costing the tax payers in terms of sign replacement.

should be preserved, and the museum should be built in the middle of it, like the 9-11 museum.
But of course...

To commemorate the Mayor's courageous, decades-long campaign against voicemail for city workers?
Or how about a WiFi router for the municipal WiFi idea that the Mayor stole from Councilor Tobin and then quietly killed?

The transit system is run by the state, not the city.

He's done nothing to support better transportation in the city. He's basically the anti-Curtatone.
Menino has spent so long riding around in a chauffeured SUV, he forgot what the rest of the city has to deal with.

How many bike lanes did Boston have in 1993?
