And fuck Twitter. Twitter is how Kim Kardashian announces what brand of diet soda she prefers, not how a government agency that millions depend on announces important changes in service.
I don't follow Kim Kardashian's feed, so I have no clue what brand of diet soda she drinks. I do, however, follow lots of Bostonians, which is how I find out about breaking news as it's, well, breaking (such as the shots fired near North Station yesterday; I was in Newton at the time, in a building where I couldn't get Boston police scanner traffic).
That having been said, yes, there should've been a note on mbta.com (and a note explaining what the shutdown of the area around MIT today will mean for bus routes there).
When I'm standing at a Red Line station wondering what the hell no train has come by in the past 20 minutes and there are no announcements or service alerts on mbta.com, I can always count on twitter to tell me what's happening.
On another note, Kim Kardashian drinks diet soda? Huh. Wouldn't have guessed that from recent pictures.
