Downtown Crossing's future no longer quite so shrouded

Lori Magno photographed work this morning to remove the shroud covering the remains of the Filene's building, as part of site preparation to build the new skyscraper atop the Hole.

Thanks.
And it's only been what, 6 years?
Nice going Mr. May-ah. Now you tackle cleaning up the scum on Winter Street.
Forgive me for being cynical
I'll believe it when I see construction crews at the site doing actual building related work. For now, all I see is the same thing I've been seeing for years minus the tarp.
And at this time next year:
"Tarp returns to Filene's Hole".
Just wait.
Replaced Tarp
The tarp has already been replaced once or twice with no other notable changes. So I wouldn't get too excited.
However, it was noted that a tenant was secured for the existing building. So perhaps they are moving forward with restoring the Burnham Building. The hole will remain, either way, for a while.
